Mary Svenson, CDAÓ1990 PALETTE: Delta Ceramcoat Background - Blue Wisp Light Ivory Blue Spruce Custard Bouquet Village Green Dusty Mauve Salem Green Black Green Blue Haze BRUSHES: LC 7350 #6, Flats #2, #4, #6, #8, a good long liner PREPARATION: Sand the filter box, wipe with a tack rag, and seal with your favorite wood sealer. Sand again and base coat with Delta Ceramcoat Blue Wisp. Transfer the pattern. LEAVES AND CALYX 1. Base coat calyx on the larger flowers Village Green. 2. Base coat the dark leaves in Salem Green. 3. Base coat the light leaves with a mix of Salem Green and Light Ivory ( 1:1). Leaves are marked "L". 4. Sideload a #6 flat brush with Salem Green and shade the bottom of the calyx with a "C" stroke. 5. Highlight all leaves with a sideload* of Village Green. Also add the center division with an "S" stroke. 6. Shade the light leaves with a sideload of Salem Green, along the center and opposite of your highlight. Also a "C" stroke at the base of the leaves. 7. Repeat the above shading of leaves for the darker leaves with a side load of blue Spruce. FLOWERS 1. Base coat pink flowers in Bouquet and blue flowers in Blue Haze. 2. Shade the back half of the pink flowers with a side load* of Dusty Mauve with a series of small "C" strokes. Also place shading in center to divide front and back of flower. Repeat for blue-green flowers by shading with Blue Spruce. 3. Highlight front half of flowers with a sideload* of Light Ivory. 4. Add tint in center with a sideload of Custard. 5. Place center with #6 LC 7350 loaded in Custard and tipped in Dusty Mauve. BLOSSOMS 1. Double load a #6 flat brush with Dusty Mauve and Light Ivory. Paint the blossom by pivoting several joining "C" strokes. Also, Blue Haze with Light Ivory. You may have to use a #8 flat for larger blossoms. FINISHING TOUCHES 1. All line work is with a mix of Blue spruce and touch of Black Green. 2. Stroke work in design is done with LC 7350 #6 brush. Load brush with Salem Green and tip in Village Green. Stroke work on bottom is Blue Haze tipped in Light Ivory. 3. Dots are Bouquet. 4. Spatter with Blue Haze and Light Ivory. 5. Complete your piece with several coats of your favorite acrylic varnish
